Advantages of Windows 7:
- Will run well on only 1GB of RAM (though as always, more is better)
- Software designed to run on Windows Vista should run just fine on Windows 7
- Reported low Upgrade cost
- Redesigned Taskbar, now termed Taskmaster, will enhance the Windows experience
- Windows XP Mode provides a Virtual Machine for running older XP programs
Disadvantages of Windows 7:
- For a new operating system, I would have expected it to be significantly faster than its predecessor, but tests show no appreciable difference
- New Device Stages, designed with hardware manufactures to manage your peripherals, don't seem to work
- Some features seem unfinished while others will require third party companies to utilize them in order for them to be useful to end users
- Upgrading from Windows XP will not be an easy process for users
- There is no longer a Quick Launch area on the Taskbar
